Joy for Rosler as Bees beat Stoke

Brentford 1 Stoke City 0

Charlie MacDonald’s goal gave Brentford a morale-boosting pre-season victory against Premier League Stoke.

MacDonald pounced to score on 72 minutes after goalkeeper Asmir Begovic failed to hold Jake Reeves’ 30-yarder.

But it was teenager Reeves who stole the show, producing an excellent performance in midfield to further enhance his growing reputation.

Striker Kenwyne Jones missed a great chance to equalise for Tony Pulis’ side when he headed wide late on.

“I’m delighted for my players. They showed guts, took the ball down and wanted to play,” Bees boss Uwe Rosler declared afterwards.

“I know we can play against top opponents. We played against a very strong Stoke side that asked us a lot of questions and we answered them well.”
