Brentford defender Clarke joins Barnet on loan

Brentford full-back Josh Clarke has joined League Two side Barnet on loan until 3 January.

The 21-year-old has made six first-team appearances for the Bees, making his first league start for the club in the 2-1 win over Preston last month.

He also began the following game, against Sheffield Wednesday, but has not featured since Marinus Dijkhuizen’s sacking.

Clarke, who can also play in midfield, has previously had loan spells at Carshalton Athletic, Maidenhead United, Braintree Town, Dagenham & Redbridge and Stevenage, and is under contract at Griffin Park until next summer.

Head coach Lee Carsley told the club’s official website: “Josh is at the stage of his development where he needs to play Football League matches.

“He is doing very well at Under-21 level and has shown potential in our first team. This will give him the chance to play regularly and deal with the physical and mental pressures of league games every week.”
