Boss relaxed over Douglas contract talks

Brentford manager Mark Warburton insists he is not concerned by protracted talks over Jonathan Douglas’ new contract.

The club offered the midfielder fresh terms in September, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Tony Craig and Alan McCormack were also offered new deals around the same time and both have since re-signed.

Warburton said: “We’re talking to Dougie but he’s focused on the football side of things at the moment. He’s been very impressive lately.

“We look at it this way; who’s left here and gone on to greater things? There’s not many that have gone on and said ‘I’m delighted with that decision’.

“We’ve got a good environment here. This is a good place to be as a player and a staff member and it’s a big decision to want to leave this club right now.”
