Brentford will not have a new head coach appointed in time for Monday’s trip to Bolton, despite their pursuit of Swansea assistant boss Pep Clotet.
Lee Carsley, who has led the first team since Marinus Dijkhuizen’s sacking on 28 September, will again take charge at the Macron Stadium.
After guiding Brentford to a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest last Saturday, Carsley said he expected permanent manager to be appointed this week.
However, the club have been unable to make sufficient progress, with Clotet, 38, their primary target.
Brentford have taken 16 points in nine games under Carsley and sit 11th in the Championship table.
