Bees star wins Football League award

Brentford midfielder Adam Forshaw has been named the League One Player of the Year.

The 22-year-old has been hugely impressive since arriving from Everton in 2012, initially on loan, and has been outstanding as the Bees have chased promotion this season.

“I’m absolutely made up,” Forshaw said after he was announced at the winner at the Football League Awards on Sunday evening.

“It’s something I wouldn’t have got if it wasn’t for my team-mates, my family, and the staff at the club, so I’m really grateful.”

Forshaw, who has scored seven goals this term, was chosen as the winner by League One managers.

Brentford were also named Community Club of the Year in recognition of the work done by the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, particularly with regard to the club’s planned move to a new stadium at Lionel Road.
