Bees’ McCormack to miss three months

Brentford’s Alan McCormack is to undergo surgery on an ankle injury and will be out of action for three months.

The Irishman, who has started every one of the Bees’ Championship games this season, was stretchered off in the 3-1 defeat at Bolton on Saturday.

Tests showed McCormack had sustained ligament damage and the decision has been taken to operate early to mend the injury.

The 30-year-old will have surgery on Monday and could be out of action until February.

McCormack was voted supporters’ player of the year last season after helping the club to promotion.
