Bees interested in Crystal Palace winger

Brentford are interested in Crystal Palace winger Sulley Kaikai.

The Bees want to add to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline and recently had bid for Chesterfield winger Gboly Ariyibi rejected by the League One club.

They have now turned their attention to Kaikai, who signed a long-term contract at Palace in 2014.

The 21-year-old has had loan spells at Crawley, Cambridge and Shrewsbury.

Brentford boss Dean Smith is keen to bring in at least one winger ahead of Wednesday’s deadline.

“I’m after a wide-player and if I get one I’ll be pleased. If I get two I’ll be delirious,” Smith said.

“You’ve got to be confident in your squad but I’d want a couple of players in, to be honest, because we know we are lacking width.

“Lewis Macleod does well out there because he knows the game and Lasse Vibe has pace, but you’re putting square pegs in round holes at times.

“We are close to a couple and we are hoping they can be done sooner rather than later. We wouldn’t like to leave it until right until the end of the window.”
