Bees beat Hampton in friendly

HAMPTON & RICHMOND 1 BRENTFORD 6

Brentford enjoyed another pre-season goalfest, but were left anxiously waiting to discover the extent of an injury to Toumani Diagouraga.

The midfielder left the ground on crutches and is set to undergo a scan after appearing to twist his knee with 14 minutes of the match remaining.

Uwe Rosler’s men, who thrashed Tonbridge Angels 10-0 at the weekend, were too strong for a Hampton & Richmond side that beat QPR’s reserves on Saturday.

The Bees gave an outing to on-trial former Bury defender Zach Rothwell, while Hampton included midfielder David Cowley, who is a graduate of the Glenn Hoddle Academy.

After Marcel Eger headed Brentford in front, Borough hit back through Stuart Duff’s equaliser.

But the League One team then took control with goals by Gary Alexander, Sam Wood, Luke Hacker and Niall McGinn.

Rothwell was involved in Brentford’s sixth goal, setting up Mickey Spillane to complete the rout.
