Keeper Lee returns in Under-21 game
Goalkeeper Richard Lee played his first 90 minutes since August as Brentford’s development side lost 3-2 to Ipswich Town on Tuesday.
Lee, 32, has struggled with a shoulder injury this season, restricting him to just one full game, the 6-6 draw and subsequent penalty shoot-out win over Dagenham in the Capital One Cup.
But he was included in a strong Bees under-21 side at Ipswich, along with James Tarkowski, Nico Yennaris and Sam Saunders.
They fell behind when Terry Bishop half-volleyed past Lee but levelled the scores on 32 minutes when, from a corner, Louis Hutton smashed the ball against the underside of the bar and into the net.
Jermaine Udumaga saw a shot blocked by Dean Gerken before Brentford went ahead on the hour mark, Raphael Calvet’s delivery headed home by Tyrell Miller-Rodney.
The lead lasted barely five minutes as Ipswich equalised with a freak goal, as Alex Henshall sliced a cross over Lee and off the far post.
Three minutes later and Ipswich went back in front, Monty Patterson setting up Cameron Stewart for the eventual winner.
