Stones spend on Farnborough star Ball

Wealdstone have signed Northern Ireland under-21 midfielder Matt Ball from Conference South rivals Farnborough for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old, a product of Norwich City’s academy, scored two great goals against the Stones when Farnborough won 2-1 at The Vale in August.

Hertfordshire-born Ball got as far as reserve team football at Carrow Road, but failed to make a first-team appearance and was released in the summer of 2012.

He signed for Stevenage ahead of the 2012-13 season, being loaned out to Farnborough and Boreham Wood before returning to Broadhall Way and making two first-team appearances in League One.

He spent the latter half of last season back at Farnborough and signed for the Hampshire side permanently in the summer.
