USA defender Onyewu set to leave QPR
United States international Oguchi Onyewu is set to leave QPR.
He was signed in October on a three-month contract as potential cover in case of further injuries in defencewhile Nedum Onuoha was sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Manager Harry Redknapp has indicated he would be happy for the centre-back, 31, to stay with the club.
But he believes Onyewu, who has not made a first-team appearance for the R’s, will opt to try his luck elsewhere when his short-term deal expires.
“He’s here and he’s fit, but I think he’s looking to move now his contract is up,” said Redknapp.
Onyewu, who has played for his country 68 times, previously had a two-year spell at AC Milan.
He made seven starts while on loan at Newcastle in 2007 and has also played for Standard Liege, Metz, FC Twente and Malaga.
