Chelsea miss out on forward along with Liverpool and Arsenal – report

Chelsea have missed out on the signing of Konstantinos Mitroglou after he extended his contract at Olympiakos, the Daily Express claim.

The Blues, Arsenal and Liverpool all supposedly wanted the forward, 27, before he agreed to sign a new deal.

Mitroglou’s previous contract reportedly had a £7m release clause and any interested clubs would seemingly now have to pay much more.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail say Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa, who has netted 17 goals in 16 matches so far this season.

And Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen is lining up £1.8m deal to sign defender Benjamin Angoua from French club Valenciennes, according to the Daily Mirror.

Centre-back Angoua, 21, is said to be keen to quit the Ligue 1 side after failing to hold down a regular first-team place this season.
