Johnson gives QPR victory at Bolton
Bolton 0 QPR 1
Andy Johnson scored the winner as QPR continued their excellent start to the season.
Johnson, back in the side after injury, struck nine minutes into the second half, tapping in from close range after being found by Clint Hill’s cross.
Bolton had the better of the first half, creating a number of goalscoring opportunities.
On 17 minutes Joey Barton’s wayward pass left Richard Dunne in no-man’s land and Jermaine Beckford raced past the Rangers defender but shot woefully wide with only keeper Rob Green to beat.
Seven minutes later, Jay Spearing had a free-kick tipped over the bar by Green, before Rangers went close when Charlie Austin’s ambitious long-range effort went just over via a deflection.
Rangers had Green to thank just after the half-hour mark when Mohamed Kamara’s superb strike was heading towards the top corner before being pushed onto the post.
And Green produced another save in the closing stages, this time denying substitute Craig Davies.
