Hughes could install Park as QPR captain

New signing Park Ji-sung could take over as QPR skipper.

Joey Barton will be suspended for the first 12 matches of the season and has been stripped of the club captaincy for his violent outburst against Manchester City on the final day of last term.

And manager Mark Hughes is considering giving the armband to South Korean star Park, whose move from Manchester United was confirmed on Monday.

Hughes said: “It’s not something I’ve thought about too much, but certainly Ji will come into my thinking in terms of a captain of the club.

“I’ll have to see who steps up and who has the natural fit for it. I’m sure people will want the role and will want to show me that they’re the right person for it.”
