Silva: No offer from Benfica and no talks

Marco Silva has insisted he has not held talks with Benfica.

The Fulham boss has been linked with a return to his native Portugal amid speculation over his future.

His contract at Craven Cottage expires this summer and he has so-far not agreed a new deal.

Silva is a contender to take over at Chelsea and reports have suggested he is wanted by Benfica.

Asked about the Benfica job, Silva said: “I don’t want to talk every single week about rumours and all that stuff.

“But of course I can mention the situation. Let’s be clear about it because I think it’s important to clarify, definitely; I didn’t have any offer from Benfica.

“I didn’t have any conversation with Benfica, and it’s important right now to tell the truth about that situation.”

Silva says he does not know when a decision on his future will be revealed.

“I don’t know when the decision will come. I don’t know,” he said.

“It’s a decision that we have to take, of course myself I have to take, but when it’s coming, I cannot tell you. I don’t know.

“Let’s see. Now we are focused in all the games and after we’ll see what’s going to happen.”

Silva also confirmed that Alex Iwobi is in contention to return for Fulham against Wolves on Sunday.
