Club legend Evans to leave Harlequins
Harlequins stalwart Nick Evans will leave his role as the club’s attack coach at the end of the season.
Evans, 45, has spent 18 years with Quins, establishing himself as a legendary figure
The former fly-half joined them from New Zealand side the Blues in 2008 and went on to become the club’s all-time record points scorer, amassing 2,249 points in 208 appearances.
During his playing career at The Stoop, Evans won 16 caps for the All Blacks and played a pivotal role in the 2012 Premiership final victory over Leicester Tigers.
After retiring from playing in 2017, he transitioned into coaching and helped lead Harlequins to another league title in 2021 as attack coach.
He is the only person in the club’s history to win the Premiership as both a player and a coach.
“After 18 years of living and breathing this club, it’s incredibly difficult to put into words what it means to myself and my family,” Evans said.
“I’ve given everything I can to this club, and in return it has shaped me both professionally and personally in ways I will always value.”
Evans also spent time as England’s attack coach during the 2023 Six Nations under Steve Borthwick and has been credited with the development of fly-half Marcus Smith into an international star.
Quins chief executive Laurie Dalrymple added: “There can be no doubt of Nick’s contribution on and off the field and we are immensely grateful for his commitment to this club across so many years.”
