Andrews sees progress despite Brentford’s derby disappointment
Keith Andrews took encouragement from Brentford’s goalless draw with Fulham despite the disappointing result.
Both clubs are chasing a European place – Andrews’ side are still in contention for a Champions League spot – but they were unable to find a breakthrough.
Nevertheless, the Bees looked most likely to score – and Andrews felt their performance highlighted an improvement since a defeat by Fulham earlier in the season.
They were tipped to struggle after Andrews replaced Thomas Frank as head coach, but instead have gone from strength to strength.
And Andrews said: “I think this game is quite a poignant one because it showcases for me where we’ve come in the space of seven months.
“At Craven Cottage, Fulham were the better team and deserved to win the game. I think you can see the evolution of our team. We are a team that can compete with anybody in this league.”

Frank, who left for Tottenham during the summer and has since been sacked by the north London club, was at the game – the Dane sat alongside Bees director of football Phil Giles.
“It’s really good that he’s come back to watch the game. He’s been a huge part of this club’s recent history,” Andrews said.
