Fears for Chalobah after Chelsea defender is stretchered off

Liam Rosenior said Chelsea are “hoping and praying” an injury Trevoh Chalobah suffered during their Champions League defeat against Paris St-Germain is not as serious as it seemed.

The Blues defender was stretchered off late in the game at Stamford Bridge, where the home side lost 3-0 in the last-16 second leg and bowed out of the tournament 8-2 on aggregate.

Speaking to TNT Sports soon after the game, Rosenior said he had been told by the club’s medical staff that the injury was a “high-ankle sprain”.

Later, at his post-match press conference, Rosenior said: “He was really worried about it. I’ve just checked with the medical team. We’re obviously scanning and assessing him tomorrow.

“We are hoping and praying that it’s not as bad as we first feared.”
