Andrews frustrated – and another Damsgaard injury is a worry for Brentford
Keith Andrews was frustrated after Brentford threw away a two-goal lead to draw against bottom side Wolves.
The Bees looked in control after going in front during the first half, with Michael Kayode’s first goal for the club, plus another from Igor Thiago, but the visitors hit back.
Boss Andrews said: “We should have managed the game better and performed better in the second half.
“We need to try and mature a bit more in different aspects, and we got punished for that. We didn’t affect things that we know we can do and we need to learn from that.
“In the first half I thought we were in control for large parts and were dangerous, we just weren’t clinical in our thinking and actions.
“What we achieve this year is very much on us. That’s the message for everyone at the club. We need to push really hard for the last eight games and that’s why its disappointing tonight.”
Andrews also paid tribute to Thiago, who celebrated his call-up to the Brazil national team with his 19th goal of the season.
“I’m really happy for him to get to this point,” Andrews said.
“I’ve seen him here for the last couple of years and everybody here has played a part in Thiago’s journey.
“Hopefully when he pulls on that iconic jersey we’ll all feel a real sense of pride for him.”
Meanwhile, Mikkel Damsgaard picked up a knock in the second half before being substituted.
Andrews said: “He will be a concern and I haven’t spoken to the medics yet.
“He had an injury a few weeks ago against Forest. It has been frustrating and he has played throughout a lot of pain, so we have to see how he is.”
Brentford are next in action when they travel to face Leeds United on Saturday.
