Leicester v QPR player ratings

QPR came from behind to win 3-1 at Leicester, with Harvey Vale inspiring them to a much-needed victory. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player.

Joe Walsh: 5

Really should have done better for Leicester’s goal – a long-range effort that seemed very saveable.

Amadou Mbengue: 7

Offered great energy at both ends of the pitch. Always eager to join the attack and headed over in the second half as Rangers got the upper hand.

Ronnie Edwards: 8

Excellent. Constantly read danger as well as getting stuck in physically. Great on the ball as well, not least when delivering one over the top for Vale, who returned the favour with the corner from which Edwards headed home to make it 3-1.

Jimmy Dunne: 7

Did well at the back, where he won some key challenges. But perhaps his biggest contribution was taking a real captain’s role in the first half, constantly cajoling his struggling team-mates during a bad spell in which they seemed on course for another defeat. The tide then turned.

Rhys Norrington-Davies: 8

Also did very well at the back as well as being a decent attacking outlet. Produced a couple of vital clearances, including one to prevent Abdul Fatawu scoring at the far post in the first half.

Harvey Vale: 8

Hauled Rangers back from the brink. They were struggling when he equalised after chasing Edwards’ long ball – and Vale was involved in both the goals early in the second half. He showed great tenacity again to attack down the right, leading to Ben Nelson’s own goal, and delivered the corner for Edwards to head home.

Isaac Hayden: 5

Needed to do more, especially with the less experienced Kieran Morgan alongside him. Jordan James ambled away from Hayden far too easily to score the opening goal.

Kieran Morgan: 7

Deserves much credit for his performance. It was a tough assignment for the young midfielder, who had some difficult moments but stuck to the task, was brave on the ball, and became more and more influential before eventually going off in the second half. A lovely pass to Mbengue was a highlight.

Paul Smyth: 7

Given Fatawu’s reluctance or inability to defend, it seemed like Smyth could have done more on the flank. But he worked hard – and that work ethic resulted in the corner which led to Rangers’ third goal.

Rayan Kolli: 6

Made some wrong choices on the ball and overall struggled to make an impact. But he was involved in some decent approach play and his enthusiasm and work-rate up front were important.

Richard Kone: 7

A familiar Kone display this season, with little falling his way but the striker showing a willingness to work hard up front, support his team-mates and move defenders out of position. He looks jaded though.

Jonathan Varane: 6

Brought on to close down as Rangers looked to see out the win, and he did so.

Kwame Poku: 6

Again lively after coming on as a substitute.
