James expected to be fit for Leeds game despite illness

Liam Rosenior says he expects Reece James to be available for Chelsea’s game against Leeds despite the captain feeling unwell on the eve of the game.

The injury-plagued James did not recover from a minor problem in time for the win at Wolves at the weekend.

He does, however, seem on course to return to the squad for Tuesday’s match despite not feeling 100%.

Head coach Rosenior explained on Monday afternoon: “Reece is fit. A small issue, but he’s feeling unwell today.

“It’s not a conspiracy, it’s true. Hopefully he’ll be well enough to play tomorrow.”

Andrey Santos is also expected to be available despite nursing an ankle problem.

Meanwhile, defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who has been out with a hamstring injury, is back in training.

Romeo Lavia has also been training with the squad.

But with Lavia having suffered a series of injury setbacks, Rosenior said the midfielder is following a “detailed plan” for his comeback.
