Chelsea’s George completes Everton move
Everton have completed the signing of Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea.
Forward George, 19, has not started a league game this season and has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
He has moved to Merseyside for the rest of the season with the option of a permanent move this summer.
A number of clubs have shown an interest in him and his departure from Chelsea has seemed likely.
George was a regular in the Blues squad last season under former boss Enzo Maresca, despite almost joining Fulham on loan in January.
He has scored six goals from a total of 37 appearances for Chelsea – 15 of which have been starts. His most memorable contribution was the crucial equaliser in the 2-1 comeback win over Fulham last season, a result which sparked the excellent run towards the end of the campaign.
“I’m really excited to be here and to enjoy this massive club. I just can’t wait to get started,” George said.
“The fans here are exceptional. I know Evertonians are really passionate. They like hard work – and that’s what I’m going to show. I want to be exciting and I want to impress them.
“The gaffer, David Moyes, was another reason [I wanted to join]. He’s an amazing manager who has coached so many players, like Wayne Rooney, and players like that. I’ve had a brief conversation with him and he’s an amazing person as well.
“I just want to enjoy it, learn under him and improve.”
