Derby make offer for Field as Norwich look to seal loan deal
Derby have made a late offer to buy Sam Field from QPR, while Norwich are looking to tie up a loan deal before today’s transfer deadline.
Field has three and a half years left on his contract at Loftus Road – he signed a new four-year deal during the summer – but has been out of favour under head coach Julien Stephan.
Rangers and Norwich have been discussing a loan deal with a view to a permanent move.
Derby have since made an offer to buy Field, 27, but as of around 3.30pm he still looked more likely to make the move to East Anglia.
Derby boss John Eustace knows the midfielder well, having been QPR’s assistant manager when the player arrived in west London from West Bromwich Albion in 2021.
West London Sport revealed at the start of the transfer window that Field and Michael Frey were in line to leave Rangers.
Striker Frey has since returned to his native Switzerland, signing for Grasshopper Zurich.
There has been interest in midfielder Jonathan Varane but no offers have matched QPR’s valuation of the midfielder.
