Colwill ‘in a good place’ and could return for Chelsea this season
Levi Colwill appears to be on course return for Chelsea this season.
The England defender suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in August and had surgery.
His recovery is going well and head coach Liam Rosenior hopes to be able to select him before the end of the campaign.
“Yes, but it’s step by step. I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep,” Rosenior said when asked if Colwill looks like returning this season.
“At the moment he’s in a really good place. I don’t like putting timeframes on injuries, because I think it puts unnecessary pressure on players when their health is the most important thing.
I spoke to him this morning. He’s really good. He’s working so hard in terms of his running and it’s been brilliant to see him back on the pitch running, which is huge for him.
“He’s itching to get back. But we need to make sure he feels 100% perfect when he’s back.
“He’s another outstanding player I can’t wait to work with.”
Head coach Rosenior was speaking at his pre-match press conference on the eve of a London derby against West Ham – who are among clibs interested in Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.
Rosenior confirmed that Cole Palmer, who returned to action as a substitute in the midweek Champions League win against Napoli, is available to start.
