Fulham ‘in the fight’ to keep ‘brilliant’ Wilson, says Silva

Marco Silva again hailed Harry Wilson after his stoppage-time winner for Fulham against Brighton – and again insisted the club are fighting to keep the in-form winger.

Wilson bagged his eighth Premier League goal of the season with a brilliant free-kick to snatch the points at Craven Cottage.

He has been Fulham’s player of the season so far, but there remain doubts over his future.

Whites boss Silva declared: “Incredible. He’s been very, very, very good.

“He’s been brilliant for us. Not just now, I know that he’s in a great run, but from the first day of the season, he’s been brilliant for us. He’s been able to take the responsibility and to be decisive.

“We had some very good spells, but it was not our best performance, but he was able to take that free-kick and I’m repeating it every single week, but it’s the true – the best moment of his career.

“In some seasons everything comes together. This season he’s helping the team, he’s enjoying his football, he’s working hard. He’s a very humble guy and we are very pleased to have him, to be able to to decide games.”

Wilson is in the final months of his contract and talks are ongoing, but he has so far not agreed a new deal.

“We are in the fight to keep him. He is happy at our football club, it’s up to the club to keep working hard to keep him,” said Silva,

“It’s going to be a challenge, it’s normal in football. If something clear happens, we will announce, but we are trying.”
