Wilson the hero again as late goal gives Fulham victory
Fulham 2Chukwueze (72′)
Wilson (90’+2)
Brighton 1Ayari (28′)
Harry Wilson continued his brilliant form by scoring with a superb stoppage-time free-kick to secure a dramatic victory for Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Samuel Chukwueze equalised for the Whites after Yasin Ayari had put Brighton ahead.
The game appeared to be heading for a draw when Wilson produced another moment of magic.
Ayari scored against the run of play, running past two Fulham players and unleashing a powerful strike which keeper Bernd Leno got a hand to but could not keep out of the net.
Having looked the better side before falling behind, Fulham lost their way and would have gone further behind but for Timothy Castagne’s superb clearance off the line to keep out Ferdi Kadioglu’s header.
Brighton continued to threaten after the interval, with Lewis Dunk and Danny Welbeck going close.
But Fulham levelled when Chukwueze collected Joachim Andersen’s long pass, burst into the box and fired home from a tight angle.
It seemed Brighton had regained the lead less than two minutes afterwards, when Welbeck slotted past Leno after being put in by Kaoru Mitoma, but the goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR check.
