Rosenior hoping ‘good start’ helps win over Chelsea fans
Liam Rosenior hopes his winning start proves to be a step towards winning Chelsea fans over.
The Blues won 5-1 at Charlton to comfortably secure a place in the FA Cup fourth round in new head coach Rosenior’s first match at the helm.
Chelsea fans again showed their unhappiness with the club’s owners, and Rosenior has plenty of doubters following his arrival from Strasbourg, but he was encouraged by a positive start.
Asked about the discontent among fans, Rosenior said: “If your fans are happy, it means you’re doing a good job.
“All I’m going to focus on at the moment is working as hard as I possibly can to help this team achieve the potential – the unlimited potential that it has – and if you concentrate and focus on your work, hopefully people will see that we’re onto a good thing.”
Jorrel Hato’s first goal put the visitors ahead shortly before the interval and Tosin Adarabioyo scored early in the second half to double the lead.
Former Chelsea youngster Miles Leaburn pulled a goal back for Championship side Charlton, but Marc Guiu quickly restored the visitors’ two-goal advantage.
And in stoppage time, Pedro Neto added a fourth and Enzo Fernandez completed the scoring with a penalty.
“I was very happy with the attitude of the team,” said Rosenior.
“I felt our press was very intense and really good and that we controlled the game.
“There were a lot of real positives and it was a good start.”
