Chelsea comfortably win cup tie in Rosenior’s first match

Charlton 1
Leaburn (57′)
Chelsea 5
Hato (45’+4)
Adarabioyo (50′)
Guiu (62′)
Neto (90’+4)

Chelsea comfortably secured their place in the FA Cup fourth round in Liam Rosenior’s first match at the helm.

Jorrel Hato’s first Blues goal put them ahead shortly before the interval and Tosin Adarabioyo scored early in the second half to double the lead.

Former Chelsea youngster Miles Leaburn pulled a goal back for Championship side Charlton, but Marc Guiu quickly restored the visitors’ two-goal advantage.

And in stoppage time, Pedro Neto added a fourth and Enzo Fernandez completed the scoring with a penalty.

Hato’s opener was a beauty – a thumping left-footed volley from around 12 yards out which flew into the top corner.

When Adarabioyo headed in Facundo Buonanotte’s right-wing free-kick, Rosenior’s side looked in complete control.

Charlton, to their credit, rallied and were given hope when Leaburn blasted in the loose ball after Lloyd Jones’ header from James Bree’s corner had been parried by keeper Filip Jörgensen.

But Chelsea responded a few minutes later. Following good work on the left by Alejandro Garnacho, Addicks keeper Will Mannion unconvincingly used his legs to keep out Buonanotte’s shot, and Guiu was on hand to score.

Liam Delap missed a chance to add a fourth when he shot wide after being set up by fellow substitute Estevao, who was electrifying after coming on.

Neto, on the other hand, made no mistake, working the ball onto his right foot and firing home after being teed up by Enzo Fernandez, who scored with the final kick of the tie, blasting in from the spot after Estevao had been brought down by Mannion.
