Andrews frustrated after Bees drop points

Brentford boss Keith Andrews admitted his side didn’t “hit the heights” after a frustrating 1-1 home draw with Leeds.

The Bees looked on course for a valuable three points when Jordan Henderson netted his first goal for the club midway through the second half, only for the in-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin to snatch a deserved point for the visitors just minutes later.

Andrews, who has overseen an impressive start to his tenure, acknowledged the performance was below the standard he expects, particularly at the Gtech Community Stadium, where Brentford have been so formidable.

“It was always going to be a difficult game,” Andrews said.

“We were facing a team that came up, respected the league in terms of how they recruited – physically and athletically – and with the results they had in recent weeks against Chelsea and Liverpool.

“We faced them at a time when they were probably at the peak of their season, and we didn’t hit the heights in terms of what we have done, particularly at home.”

The head coach’s frustration was palpable, despite the point edging the Bees further away from the bottom end of the table.

“It’s frustrating in certain ways but, equally, it’s a point that’s probably a fair result, and we move on,” he added.

“We’ve got to use this. Everything is something to learn from. Everything is a lesson.”
