Nelson could make timely return for Brentford

Reiss Nelson could return for Brentford in Sunday’s home match against Leeds.

The on-loan Arsenal winger returned to league action last month but picked up another knock and missed the defeat at Tottenham.

But head coach Keith Andrews said on Friday that Nelson is “doing pretty well” and could be in contention this weekend.

Nelson’s return would be a timely one for the Bees, as Kevin Schade is suspended and the game is expected to be the last for Dango Ouattara and Frank Onyeka before they report for Africa Cup of Nations duty.

“That does leave a void in the squad,” said Andrews.

“You need a squad that competes on a daily basis to set the environment that’s needed to play with an edge. I think we do that pretty well.

“There are going to be opportunities for lots of players over the coming weeks.”
