Fulham beat Wycombe on penalties to reach quarter-finals

Fulham beat Wycombe on penalties to reach the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

They were pushed all the way by the League One side, with Cauley Woodrow scoring against his former club after just four minutes.

Josh King equalised for the Whites shortly before half-time and, after the teams ended the regular 90 minutes level at 1-1, the visitors won 5-4 in the shootout, with Issa Diop scoring the decisive spot-kick in sudden death after goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte had saved three Wycombe penalties.

King’s first senior goal – a near-post flick from Kevin’s corner – seemed to set Fulham up nicely for the second half, but they were unable to find a second goal.

Ryan Sessegnon and Jonah Kusi-Asare had their penalties saved in the shootout but Lecomte denied Ewan Henderson, Fred Onyedinma and Donnell McNeilly before Diop secured the victory.

Fulham: Lecomte, Castagne, Diop, Cuenca (Sessegnon 46), Bassey, Reed (Lukic 71), King, Cairney (Iwobi 65), Adama, Raul (Kusi-Asare 74), Kevin.
Subs not used: Leno, Tete, Amissah, Berge, Ridgeon.
