James withdraws from England squad with injury

Chelsea captain Reece James has withdrawn from the England squad.

James picked up an injury during Saturday’s win for the Blues against Liverpool.

He has been plagued by injury problems in recent seasons but was named in England boss Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the game against Wales and Latvia.

Nico O’Reilly of Manchester City has replaced James in the squad, stepping up from the Under-21s.

England face Wales at Wembley on Thursday before travelling to Riga to take on Latvia in a World Cup qualifier next Tuesday.
