Scan offers some encouragement after apparent Clarke-Salter setback

Jake Clarke-Salter returned to action on Tuesday evening but the QPR defender went off just 11 minutes into his comeback game.

Clarke-Salter, sidelined since undergoing hip surgery in January, started for Rangers’ development side in a match against Swansea.

He was soon withdrawn because of discomfort, although a scan has since shown nothing of note and he is expected to continue to train as normal ahead of a planned return to the first-team squad.

Head coach Julien Stephan this week suggested that return could even come before this month’s international break.

That now seems unlikely, but the results of the scan offer at least some encouragement.
