QPR and Fulham fans on Twitter react to Smith deal
QPR and Fulham fans on Twitter have been reacting to news that the two clubs have agreed a fee for Whites forward Matt Smith.
The 27-year-old has scored nine goals in 53 appearances for Fulham since joining from Leeds United in 2014, and now looks bound for Loftus Road.
Some R’s supporters are unconvinced by his goal return and how he would fit in with fellow strikers Conor Washington and Idrissa Sylla.
@WestLondonSport I understand Ollie looking for a foil for Washington but not so sure Smith is the answer tbh, hope I’m wrong #qpr

Quite underwhelming bidding £1m for Matt Smith. Not really the experienced striker we need to challenge. #QPR

Everything I have read about Matt Smith at Fulham is negative and if he can’t get ahead of a desperate want-away, overrated Martin… #QPR

Bit bemused by interest in Smith. Conveniently avail? Wash/Smith/Sylla combos wudnt scream goalfest. Where’s the proven scorer we need #QPR

However, others were more positive about the proposed move.
Matt Smith would be a good signing. Can’t argue with £500,000 with the potential transfer fee reaching £1m based on incentives either #QPR

Mind you, that Matt Smith signing could be a masterstroke. Just need a big lad up top an he is that #QPR

Blimey people give Matt Smith a chance. Ok he is extremely tall but its all having DIFFERENT options. #QPR

The reaction from Fulham fans was also mixed – some feeling they had pulled one over their local rivals, others keen to know whether Smith’s proposed sale means a striker is arriving at Craven Cottage.
Fulham accept £1m bid for Matt Smith from QPR who have definitely lost their minds. Surely means #FFC has two strikers lined up?

So we’re selling matt smith to qpr for a mil? Hoping Fulham pull something out the bag today or tomorrow or we’re screwed for a striker#FFC

Could look at Matt Smith leaving another way! Slav is bang on confident that new strikers are coming!! #FFC #FulhamFC

0.5m up front, with around 2m for polts (they have similar goalscoring records) and nobody else avaliable – i think its worth a punt – olly seems to think he can get washington playing

Well he’s a good lad can hold it up. Not sure if I’m just trying to convince myself.
