Chelsea youngsters win despite Tottenham comeback
Chelsea’s Under-18s held off a late recovery from Tottenham to beat their London rivals 3-2 on Saturday morning.
The Blues took the lead early on when George McEachran, younger brother of Brentford midfielder Josh, broke through and lifted the ball over Spurs keeper Brandon Austin.
The first half was competitive, with Tottenham having their chances, but Chelsea doubled their lead through a drilled free-kick from Martell Taylor-Crossdale.
The same player scored the third in the second half, finishing off a flowing team move, but Spurs did not surrender.
On 73 minutes, Reo Griffiths headed in after his first effort hit the crossbar, and they gave themselves a chance of salvaging something when Tashan Oakley-Boothe netted late on, but the Blue survived.
