Saints keeper Boruc heads to hospital for tests after suffering injury at Chelsea

Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc will undergo tests after suffering an injury during his team’s 3-1 defeat at Chelsea.

Boruc was having a good game before going off shortly before the Blues’ second goal at Stamford Bridge.

“We do not know [how bad the injury is] at the moment,” said Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.

“He is going to hospital to have X-rays done so that we can know exactly what has happened to his hand or wrist.”

Southampton went ahead when Jay Rodriguez scored after only 13 seconds, but Chelsea hit back with second-half goals from Gary Cahill, John Terry and Demba Ba.

“We corrected things that needed to be corrected at half-time but then we didn’t concentrate at a corner,” Pochettino added.

“Then Boruc got his injury, Chelsea scored again and once they went in front it was very difficult for us.

“We’re the youngest team in the Premier League so it is normal that we are in a continual learning process.”
