Millwall boss issues challenge to Watford man

Millwall boss Ian Holloway has challenged on-loan Watford forward Diego Fabbrini to add more to his game after impressing in the goalless draw with Fulham.

The Italian, who joined the Lions in January, was among the standout players despite Millwall failing to score for the second game running.

Holloway said he was a big fan of Fabbrini but that the team would benefit from him being less unpredictable.

The Millwall manager said: “He’s wonderful to watch but when we lose the ball he’s got to end up in an area where he can help the team.

“I’d pay to watch him myself, to be honest. He’s been a breath of fresh air. But he’s got to get that end product, where he slots someone in or hits the target.”

Holloway felt his team deserved to beat Fulham but lacked the finishing touch in front of goal, which leaves them three points adrift of safety.

He said: “Maybe I’m biased but that’s as good as we’ve been.

“Unfortunately we’ve had 16 efforts on goal and we’ve only got four on target. That’s what we’ve got to work on.

“There’s 14 games left. We need someone to pick up the goalscoring mantle, as long as we can defend like we did today.”
