Delighted Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho hailed Cesc Fabregas and Ramires after his side’s triumph at Anfield.

Both midfielders played in the 2-1 win against Liverpool despite having injury worries and were singled out for praise by their boss.

Harry Redknapp also backed his players after QPR’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City at Loftus Road.

He was disappointed after Sergio Aguero’s late equaliser denied Rangers victory, but manager Redknapp believes they are heading in the right direction.

Chairman Tony Fernandes tweeted after the game that he was proud of the players – and pointed out that “rash decisions” were avoided following a terrible start to the season.

Fulham also started the campaign badly, but a win at home to Huddersfield lifted them out of the bottom three – although boss Kit Symons played down their chances of a charge towards the play-offs.

But Brentford are in the play-off places after a 3-2 win at Millwall, whose manager Ian Holloway insisted the Bees could be promoted to the Premier League.
