Kramaric feared he would be overlooked if he joined Chelsea

Croatia striker Andrej Kramaric says he rejected a move to Chelsea because he feared he would not get enough game time.

The Blues were keen to sign the 23-year-old, but Kramaric instead opted to join the Premier League’s basement side Leicester City on a three-year contract for a fee of around £9m.

He said the prospect of being a back-up to Diego Costa and battling to move ahead of Didier Drogba and Loic Remy made a move to the Foxes more appealing.

“I think I will play much more here than at Chelsea,” said Kramaric, who has scored 28 goals in 24 appearances for his former club FC Rijeka and Croatia this season.

“Chelsea is the biggest team in the Premier League but I chose Leicester because I feel something good here. I hope we will stay in the Premier League.”
