Chelsea have held talks with Roma over Cech deal, reports say

Chelsea have held talks with Roma over a potential deal for Petr Cech, according to Italian media reports.

It was reported this week that Roma are interested in the 32-year-old goalkeeer, who has been linked with several clubs after losing his place to Thibaut Courtois.

And Il Tempo say preliminary discussions between the two clubs over a possible move for Cech have progressed well.

On Friday, Goal.com reported that Chelsea had snubbed an approach from Fulham for Mark Schwarzer – because of the apparent possibility that Cech will leave.

Schwarzer, who recently turned 42, left Fulham in 2013 after five years at Craven Cottage and joined the Blues as back-up keeper.

The Australian stood in for Cech last season and is now third choice, with Thibaut Courtois establishing himself as number one.

Fulham were reported to have tried to take Schwarzer on loan for the rest of the season.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is said to have been reluctant to let him go as Cech’s departure would then leave Chelsea without experienced cover for Courtois.
