Chelsea striker Diego Costa was deemed unfit to play after illness and an ongoing hamstring problem. So with Loic Remy also sidelined, Didier Drogba starts up front.

Youngsters Lewis Baker and Nathan Ake are among the Blues substitutes.

United are without Radamel Falcao and the suspended Wayne Rooney. Chris Smalling replaces Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini comes in for Ander Herrera, while Juan Mata plays against his former club.
