Half-time: Stoke 0 Chelsea 1

John Terry’s second-minute header put Chelsea on course for victory at Stoke.

Terry shrugged off the attentions of his marker Ryan Shawcross to send a powerful effort down and into the net from a Cesc Fabregas corner.

The Premier League leaders were in command for most of the rest of the half and could easily have gone further ahead.

Diego Costa shot just wide with a great one-on-one chance and the Blues created several opportunities on the break without testing home keeper Asmir Begovic.

Eden Hazard was once again in mesmerising form and could easily have drawn a red card for Phil Bardlsey, who was instead booked for a scything challenge.
