Fulham remain on course for a draw after an uneventful first half at Hillsborough.

The only clear chance came from Sheffield Wednesday winger Chris Maguire, who cut in from the left and unleashed a low shot that keeper Marcus Bettinelli palmed away.

The Owls finished on the front foot as substitute Stevie May had a close-range strike blocked just before the break.

In a poor half characterised by mistakes on the sandy, worn-out pitch, both teams targeted their tall strikers with long balls as Fulham lined up in a new-look 4-4-2 formation.

Whites frontman Matt Smith, making his first start after his 13-goal loan spell at Bristol City, has linked up well with former Leeds team-mate Ross McCormack, but the pair have been unable to create any opportunities.

Manager Kit Symons handed a debut to Michael Turner in the centre of defence while Jazz Richards returned at right-back after a knock and Kostas Stafylidis started in place of the suspended Fernando Amorebieta.

Bryan Ruiz was left out of the squad, with Sean Kavanagh coming in.
