Half-time: Millwall 0 Brentford 1

In-form striker Andre Gray scored his third goal in three games to give Brentford a half-time lead at The Den.

The centre-forward latched onto Alex Pritchard’s neat through-ball and smashed a fierce shot high into the far corner just before the break.

Gray had previously gone close with an almost identical move, dragging a shot wide of the far post from Jon Toral’s pass.

And Jota, who replaced the suspended Jonathan Douglas as Brentford’s only change, should have done better when he completed a swift counter-attack by firing high over the bar.

Millwall put on a pre-match remembrance service that was highly commendable – which included appearances from World War II veterans and more recent members of the armed forces.

The Lions, sporting a camouflage-style kit in their honour, went closest when Lee Martin flicked a shot that was saved well by David Button from close range.

Brentford (4-3-3): Button; Odubajo, Dean, Craig, Bidwell; Judge, Diagouraga, Pritchard; Toral, Gray, Jota
Subs not used: Bonham, Saunders, Dallas, Smith, Tarkowski, Yennaris, Proschwitz.
