Half-time: Man Utd 0 Chelsea 0

Didier Drogba had Chelsea’s best opening as they threatened during a lively first half at Old Trafford, but they also needed Thibaut Courtois to produce two good stops.

Courtois was called into action in the 22nd minute, saving with his legs to deny Robin van Persie after the Manchester United striker had been set up by Adnan Januzaj’s fine pass.

The impressive Blues keeper was also able to gather Angel Di Maria’s looping header soon afterwards.

At the other end, the visitors felt they should have been awarded a penalty when Branislav Ivanovic was wrestled to the ground by Chris Smalling.

Drogba was then teed up by Oscar’s cut-back but keeper David de Gea was down quickly to save the Ivorian’s shot.

And the dangerous Januzaj fired just over the bar three minutes before the break.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa was deemed unfit to play after illness and an ongoing hamstring problem.

So with Loic Remy also sidelined, Drogba started up front.
