Half-time: Chelsea 1 Stoke 1

A sensational goal by Charlie Adam hauled Stoke level at Stamford Bridge, where a Chelsea victory would take the hosts seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Eden Hazard tucked away a 38th-minute penalty after Cesc Fabregas had been tripped in the area by Philipp Wollscheid.

Chelsea had been well on top, with Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic saving Loic Remy’s deflected shot and Hazard’s low effort before Oscar fired wide.

At the other end, an uncharacterstic error by John Terry gifted a chance to Steven Nzonzi, who curled a shot over the bar following the Blues skipper’s wayward clearance.

Otherwise Chelsea looked fairly comfortable until Stoke counter-attacked and Adam, having spotted keeper Thibaut Courtois off his line, equalised in breathtaking fashion with a left-footed strike from 10 yards inside his own half.

Chelsea: Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Matic, Fabregas; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Remy.
Subs not used: Cech, Zouma, Filipe Luis, Ramires, Cuadrado, Drogba, Costa.
