Half-time: Forest 0 Brentford 2

Goals from Jon Toral and Andre Gray put Brentford in charge against an out-of-sorts Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

In a lacklustre opening quarter-hour Brentford failed to turn patient build-up play into anything meaningful.

But with their first effort on goal, on-loan Arsenal midfielder Toral punished Forest for their inability to clear danger in the box as he fired the ball into the roof of the net on 17 minutes.

David Button tipped a fierce Danny Fox long-range strike over the bar before Gray made it 2-0 after racing onto a weak backpass from substitute Eric Lichaj.

Button protected the visitors’ half-time lead by palming a powerful Michael Mancienne header over the bar, while Gray was denied by Karl Darlow at the other end.

Jonathan Douglas missed a great chance to make it three just before the break.

Brentford: Button, Bidwell, Craig, Dean, Douglas, Odubajo, Toral, Judge, Gray, Diagouraga, Pritchard.
Subs: Bonham, Saunders, Dallas, Jota, Smith, Tarkowski, Proschwitz.
