Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane both struck on the counter-attack to give Tottenham a half-time lead in their Champions League group opener at Wembley.

Borussia Dortmund dominated the first half, looking dangerous throughout, and summer signing Andriy Yarmolenko curled home a superb equaliser after Son’s opener.

The South Korean fired Spurs ahead from an acute angle after he was put through by Kane on the left-hand side and beat Dortmund keeper Roman Burki at his near post.

And Kane restored the lead in similar fashion, barraging his way past two Dortmund defenders before smacking a shot high into the near corner from distance.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino handed summer signing Serge Aurier his Spurs debut as one of three changes from the win at Everton, with Son and Mousa Dembele coming back into the fold.

But they were mostly forced to defend for 45 minutes, as the German side went close through further chances for Christian Pulisic, who had a goal ruled out for offside on the stroke of half-time.
