Charlton boss feels side were unlucky

Charlton manager Chris Powell felt his team were unlucky to lose at QPR.

Charlie Austin’s long-range effort gave Rangers a 1-0 victory against the Addicks, who are one place above the relegation zone.

Powell said: “We were beaten by a wonder strike – an excellent goal.

“I felt we settled into the game against a team with a good manager who has got some good players at his disposal.

“We acquitted ourselves well but lacked belief in the final third. We defended really well but certain things didn’t go our way and that’s hard to take.

“Sometimes you just can’t stop quality and Charlie’s goal really was a great strike. That’s what you pay for.

“I’ve got to do my best to instil some confidence in the players. They know what they’re up against but they’re in the same league and I feel can play against these guys.

“You’ve got to say to yourself ‘Can we match that? Can we play against that?’ And we can.

“We’re in the lower reaches but we’ve got two big home games coming up and on another day we could have got something from this.”
