Assou Ekotto insists he did not mock Spurs

Benoit Assou-Ekotto returned to Twitter to insist he had not previously posted a picture with fellow Tottenham outcast Emmanuel Adebayor in order to mock the north London club after their defeat against Liverpool.

Andre Villas-Boas, who froze both players out at Spurs, was sacked in the wake of their 5-0 thrashing at the hands of the Merseysiders.

Assou-Ekotto, currently on loan at QPR, later tweeted a photograph of him and Adebayor smiling broadly, seemingly revelling in Tottenham’s problems.

The left-back’s two-fingered gesture and a three-fingered one by Adebayor was also taken by many as a reference to the five goals Spurs conceded.

After posting past pictures in which he posted with the same gesture, citing them as proof he meant no offence, Assou-Ekotto tweeted: “So as many people think as im enough stupid to b happy about a bad game of spurs…ur IQ is verrrry LOW! I left 10min b4 the end…(3/0.”
